Our story

A French childhood, carried forward.

It began with a little girl in France, pressing her hand to the door of a neighbourhood pâtisserie and looking in.

Sophie Benyamina remembers the gleam of fruit tarts, the patience behind handmade chocolates, the scent of butter-rich viennoiserie, and the quiet theatre of a beautiful display. Those early visits became a lifelong devotion to French pastry.

Her first career led through science and the corporate world, but the pull of the pâtisserie never left. She returned to the craft with purpose, training with respected pastry chefs and at leading French pastry schools.

In 2013, Sophie opened the first Praliné in Belmont. Cambridge followed in 2021. Each café has been built around the same belief: a pastry should be exacting in craft, generous in spirit, and a pleasure before the first bite.

Now, with the same independence and family spirit, Praliné is preparing to open at 227 Newbury Street—its first Boston home.

Why Newbury Street?

A new address for an old-world ritual.

Praliné has grown one neighbourhood at a time: Belmont in 2013, Cambridge in 2021, and now Boston.

At 227 Newbury Street, Sophie will welcome familiar guests and new neighbours into a café shaped by French ritual, family, and the particular energy of Back Bay. Your support helps an independent pâtisserie complete the opening and turn the key on its next chapter.
